Welcome to our family’s overland travel page. We are Andrew, Susi and our children Isabel and Jack. In December, 2014 we will embark on a travel adventure that will take us from Australia to the UK, predominantly by land. We will ship our car to Malaysia, where we will begin our overland journey that will take us through 22 countries over nine months.
We will school Isabel and Jack on the road, hopefully deriving the majority of learning’s from the people we meet and places we visit. While the purpose of the trip is essentially to drive our Land Rover Defender from Kuala Lumpur to London, the underlying reasons are to learn and experience as much as possible about different people, cultures, languages and food, experiencing all of the sounds, smells and sites from street level.
We hope to open our children’s eyes to the beauty of the world and its people, but also what may be ugly, unfair and most likely uncomfortable.
While this journey only takes in a small portion of the world, we hope that this is just the first stage and other adventures will be undertaken at other phases of life.
